Abstract

This article discusses the dynamics of the Jehovah's Witnesses face to face proselytism in Portugal, considering the resistances that are imposed in their relation with alterity and resources triggered by the group in an attempt to overcome them. From a case study, I propose to explain how TJ try to circumvent the stigma built around the group and the tensions which cross the interaction with those who wish to convert. I analyze how the Jehovah's Witnesses prepare themselves for the proselytizing task and how they interpret the reactivity often found when knocking on the door of other.
