Abstract

This article investigates the intersection between literature and visual performance in sign language, focusing on the interpretation of the joke “The Man and the bull” by Alberto Oliveira Leite, availabe on the You Tube channel “Na Palma da Mão” (2023). The analysis, based on narrative theories (Propp, 1992) and performativity (Zumthor, 2018), seeks to understand how the artist constructs comedic effect through the aesthetic resources of sign language. The results reveal a rich scenic narrative characterized by the intensive use of elements such as anthropomorphism, gestural exaggeration, absurd actions, and nonsense, which collectively provoque the viewer’s laughter.

  • Amanda Caroline Furtado Freitas, Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo - UFES

    Doutoranda em Letras pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras (PPGL) da UFES, localizado em Vitória. Possuo mestrado em Letras pelo mesmo programa, concluído em 2023. Graduada em Pedagogia pela Multivix polo Nova Venécia-ES (2015) e atualmente cursando a graduação em Letras-Libras/Língua Portuguesa na Universidade Estácio de Sá polo São Mateus-ES (previsão de conclusão para 2024). Especialização em Educação Inclusiva com ênfase em Libras pela Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (2021). Possuo formação como Professor Instrutor de Libras pela ELLO (2016) e realizei cursos de extensão universitária em Libras, nos níveis Básico e Intermediário, na Faculdade Vale do Cricaré - FVC (2015). Também obtive certificados no Curso Básico de Libras nos níveis Intermediário (2012) e I (2011) pelo Instituto de Educação e Libras - IELBS. Minha experiência profissional inclui atuação como professora de Libras na Secretaria do Estado de Educação do Espírito Santo (SEDU), entre os anos 2012 e 2023, bem como na Prefeitura de São Mateus-ES no ano 2018. Além disso, ministrei aulas voluntárias de Libras no Departamento de Educação e Ciências Humanas - DECH do Centro Universitário Norte do Espírito Santo - CEUNES/UFES - Campus São Mateus nas disciplinas ECH12032 e ECH11373 durante o ano 2018. Atualmente exerço a função de Professora de Libras na SEDU, acumulando experiência nas áreas da Educação, Libras e Literatura Surda.

    É professora Adjunta nívelIII do curso Letras-Libras Bacharelado, vinculada ao departamento de Línguas e Letras do Centro de Ciências Humanas e Naturais PPGL/Ufes. Possui graduação em Língua Portuguesa (2005) pela Universidade Federal do Espirito Santo - UFES e especialização ''Latu-Sensu'' em Língua Espanhola e Cultura hispânica (2007) pelo Centro de Ensino Superior - CESV. Defendeu, em 2010, pesquisa de mestrado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Estudos Linguísticos pela UFES. Em 2015, defendeu o doutorado em Letras também na UFES. Fez pós-doutoramento no ano acadêmico 2022-2023 na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, sob supervisão da prof Dra Rachel Sutton-Spence. Está credenciada como membro permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras PPGL/Ufes desde 2017. Atua principalmente na área de Literatura, Tradução, Interpretação e Ensino de literatura em Língua Brasileira de Sinais. Integra o grupo interinstitucional de pesquisa Literatura e Educação e coordena o Grupo de Estudos em Língua de Sinais, Interpretação e Tradução (LISIT/Ufes).
