Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the pre-school children’s physical growth of the municipal district of Marechal Cândido Rondon/Pr. Specifically, a comparison between the physical growth of children from private and public day cares of the municipal district. Participated in the sample 61 children (28 girls and 33 boys), which attended a private school from the municipal district. The data of physical growth (weigh and stature) were obtained through specific procedures for such measures, as established in the literature, and were analyzed through distribution percentile of the weigh /age and stature /age. Through the data obtained in a previously study, with similar variables obtained from 160 subjects of public day cares, a comparison was made between the results. There were no significant statistical differences among the children’s physical growth between the public and private day cares. Findings can suggest that the pre-school children of Marechal Cândido Rondon/Pr comes with normal par  eters of physical development. The lack of differences between the children’s growth from public and private day cares suppose a conclusive form, that the socioeconomic factor is not exercising positive or negatives influences in any group although the children from private day cares are inserted in a more economical structure. It can be admitted that some observed differences could be related to genetics or individuals factors.
