Abstract

Taking into account the relevance of sports on the Physical Education universe and its deterministic social significance, the present work brings a theoretical review of the field notion developed by Pierre Bourdieu with the purpose of allowing a better comprehension of how this sociological instrument can offer pathways to interpreting the sportive culture. This idea also allows the comprehension that the study of sportive culture through the observation of sportive field should undergo the following questions: Which are the division principles of sportive field that characterize it as non reductive, relatively autonomous? Which are the principles of non division in the sportive field, practices, products, producers, consumers that are so specific, necessary and adequate to the sense of the game? What determines a reproductive tendency or sportive field invention, the specific fundings, internal circulating markets, symbolic powers and legit monopolies?
