Abstract

Today the demand for leisure-time activities has increased dramatically, and it is observed that leisure has been the subject of several studies in Physical Education. This paper attempts to establish links between cultural identity and leisure activities for the members of the Native Sap Tradition Center. We do this by trying to understand how they experience this identity, articulate the meanings they attach to leisure activities in which they participate in this location. This group of people often gather on weekends to perform activities that are directly linked to the traditional culture of Rio Grande. For a better understanding of the relationships existing there, we establish a direct contact with the group studied, choosing for this ethnography as a methodology for research. After understand this, it was necessary to do relevant discussions about leisure, culture and identity, so to make such relations in this universe. It was possible identify that in addition to an important place of recreation, the Native Sap Tradition Center is characterized in an area where its members can experience their culture. A place where their identity and values are highlighted.
