Abstract

The theme of the study is linked to body image for adolescent students, perceived in physical education classes, influenced them, usually by media. The aim of this study was to perform a theoretical research with body as subject, comprising about it and how knowledge is being addressed throughout history (body culture, changes, sacrifices, customs, fad) and media's influence on the body in consumer society. It will realize how "capitalist values" that standardize us, and impose corporal patterns that interfere on the self-image and well-being of people. These bobliographic surveys demonstrate the importance of furthering the study in schools. These writings may do that people / students to better know and understand the influences of the environment in their well-being, as well as its responsibility on the process to contribute to the reflection of what is happening in capitalista society we operate.
