Abstract

This paper presents the Organizational Intelligence (OI) as a discipline for
developing and strengthening businesses in increasingly competitive markets. Found in the
literature from two perspectives - process and product - in this study, OI was approached from
the perspective of process, defined by Matsuda (1992, 1993) and Choo (1998) as a group of
activities that if developed jointly, may contribute to the achievement of OI. Aims to
investigate the use of the concepts of Organizational Intelligence for hospital organizations in
the city of Curitiba, PR, Brazil, considered reference in its area of operation, and in this way,
the research was applied in two Institutions Health. The data collection was divided into three
distinct stages and subsequently held content analysis. The results showed that the
participating hospital organizations develop OI actions in their agendas, but without an
integrated planning of these activities. It was possible to identify the main actions of IO
developed within these organizations and see that the IO is an integrative discipline that
provides a meeting of the areas of management, acting as a link between other activities
already established in the area of business management.
