Abstract

This article attempts to provide through the work Memoria de mis putas tristes by Gabriel García Márquez an understanding of desire through a psychoanalytic approach. In the field of psychoanalysis, an individual needs to find something to have the desire. The "other" is essential to begin the phase of pleasure. According to LACAN (1975), the man’s desire is the desire of the other’s desire, having, in this case , the mirror stage where the child looks at herself in the mirror and recognize that this other from the mirror is not real, but an image. We seek examples in the work that are connected with sexual desire that has the “Viejo Sábio” by young Delgadina, for this reason, it is important to analyze the connection between psychoanalysis and literature, given that it will help us to understand the behavior and actions of characters .
