ESTUDO DE FENÔMENOS SOCIAIS NA PERSPECTIVA DAS TEORIAS DA PRÁTICA A PARTIR DOS APONTAMENTOS DE SILVIA GHERARDI

Abstract

Practice-based Studies (PBS) offer a challenging perspective for the understanding of social phenomena. Silvia Gherardi represents an important contribution to social studies, especially those devoted to organizational ones, developing arguments for an epistemology of practice, putting the practice as the central unit of the analysis of social phenomena. This theoretical essay aims at presenting the approach to practice in Gherardi, from the situated practice study, mediated by historical, cultural, discursive and aesthetic dimensions. In this perspective, there is a complex reality that reveals a social order that happens in daily practice tasks. This organization around the practice both constitutes the subjects and is constituted of them, in a negotiation process, immersed in a context of relations between humans and non-human, legitimizing norms, rules, values, discourses, desires and actions, which are materialized in symbolic artifacts and objects. Thus, Gherardi demonstrates that the practice, as a social, collective and daily task reveals a socially constructed knowledge, and allows to study social phenomena in their production, maintenance and transformation conditions.
