Abstract

From a process of unequal, contradictory and exclusionary growth of modern cities, art emerges in the streets representing the dissatisfaction and the need for a space of artistic and social expression in a movement where urban artists align themselves in defense of freedom of expression. This is a deinstitutionalized and often marginalized form, to assume the new relationships between the private and the public, the daily life and politics. This article aims to analyze this form of art as a resistance movement, a redefinition of public space and the feeling of belonging of cities, identifying such manifestations beyond the major urban centers, also reaching the cities of the countryside of Brazil and in several states in the country. From the literature analyzes the relationships established between art and the form of the contemporary individual to enter the world, to situate in time and space.
