Abstract

The historical devenir of the Captainship of Rio Grande was developed in theepisodes of indigenous rebelions, strategical missions and the central project of coast conquest,delineating forms of space’s construction and regional identity that could approach us themost possible to a posterior elaboration in the national or local memory of these data. In thediscursive analysis perspective we understand that Company of Jesus expresss in theirletters and relations about Rio Grande a writing of themselves and of the space where theyacting, a concentrated look directed for the comparison and classification; a dedicated art toknow and to control the cultural diversity and the adversities, and to take care of to thematerial and spirituals interests of the project.
