TRANSFORMAÇÕES SOCIOCULTURAIS E ESPACIAIS NO NORTE DO ESTADO DE MATO GROSSO – UM PROCESSO DE COLONIALIDADE

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the perception of social actors in the city of Sinop/ MT, about the process of colonization in the region, occurred from the 1970s, a result ofstate actions and private initiatives. The qualitative research was conducted through a fieldresearch, where empirical data were collected, with relevant social actors in society, usingsemi-structured interviews as well as literature on the main concepts of coloniality, environmentalimpact and history of the occupation of the city of Sinop. Content analysis was themethod used to perform analysis of data collected. The results show that the perception ofsocial actors, the occupation of space was based on the state’s policy of occupation of emptyspaces in the Amazônia Matogrossense Amazon and apology to the motto: Integrating tonot deliver. Colonization, a process that is part of a historical context of strategic policies ofoccupation of the Amazon, in which the private colonization was primarily responsible for thetransformation of spaces in the Amazônia Matogrossense Amazon.
