Abstract

This paper discusses adaptations of the classics,made​​for young people in Brazil, emphasizing two authors in particular: Monteiro Lobato and Pedro Bandeira, intending to highlight the particular characteristics of each proposal and the validity of the reading of these adaptations to the reader´s formation process.The text builds on the assumptions of Aesthetics of Reception, mainly involving the concepts of expectation´s horizon and repertoire, as support for discussions on the validity of the adaptations. Don Quixote of children will be discussed, The mark of a tear and Now I am alone. The first is an adaptation of the work of Cervantes,by Monteiro Lobato, the second, a rereading of Cyrano de Bergerac, Edmond Rostand, and the third, a rereading of Hamlet, the latter two made ​​by Pedro Bandeira.
