The first part of this essay touches on the importance of an important figure of youth literature: Lygia Bojunga. Thoroughly we oversee the writer’s trajectory, life and work, emphasizing her main literary characteristics and her contributions to modern-day Brazilian youth literature. The second part investigates the constant insertion of this writer in the School Library National Program −PNBE. Because, out of the 22 works published, 12 are a part of the PNBE, which is in place since 1997, with the purpose of promoting literary reading among public schools’ students and teachers. The intention is not to perform a complete and exhaustive analysis, but to evidence the main changes and conquests of this Program, seeing as how the greater aim is to locate the sales of Lygia Bojunga’s books within the entire catalog obtained in her many active years.
