Abstract

Italian immigrants, in addition to linguistic variants and culture, introduced and recreated in Brazil some of their values, such as the appreciation of work and the heroism of venturing into new lands. These characteristics comprise some of the signs of identification of this ethnic group, as well as the stigmatization they suffered due to their own way of speaking. Some Italian descendants whose predecessors settled in the South and who currently live in the city of Cascavel, Paraná State, based on one-to-one interviews, through a semi-guided questionnaire, talked about these historical signs, which identify them as Italian-descendants.
