Abstract

The democratization of access to universities in Brazil, along with the growing internationalization of educational activities, has imposed to the academic community in general and to Brazilian university students im special, the need to develop skills related to different academic genres. Considering this context, the aim of this paper is to present the context and theoretical principles that guided the process of developing an online platform with user-friendly and freely accessible multimedia features, understood as a virtual environment with educational resources that aims to assist in the development of skills related to the understanding and writing of academic genres in English based on the needs of the academic community of a Brazilian university.
