Abstract

This article aims to analyze the representations of the undergraduate students about their writings and the implications of their perceptions to the development of their academic literacy. For that, it was analyzed the texts produced by the undergraduate students enrolled in the Academic Writing discipline, offered over the first semesters of the Letters Course, in a public university of the state of Tocantins. This research was based on the New Literacy Studies (LEA and STREET, 1998; STREET, 1995; 2010; 2012; FIAD, 2011 and FISCHER, 2007/2008). Thus, we understand that the students present difficulties in writing due to their previous experiences to their entrance in the university, in relation to the production and appropriation of the various textual genres, that integrate literacy practices in the academic area.
