Abstract

There was a change in the pronunciation of the phoneme ar in
the Portuguese’s Brazilian in almost all-national territory. This
pronunciation, when it is in the syllable beginning, passed from vibrant – strong, it is still used in regions of Rio Grande do Sul state – to fricative,  inspired, it has been marked in regions of Minas Gerais state. The decisive point to that arrives from the social prestige imputed to fricative ar. Through this study, it’s possible to demonstrate how the means of communication influenced in such change. This evidences when it opposes the pronunciation in dubbings made to the movie and television in the sixty-decade to the
present.
