Abstract

In the poem “A um bruxo, com amor”(To a sorcerer, with love), dedicated to Guimarães Rosa, Drummond takes position – poetic and figuratively – before the perspective of two different visions, respectively, about the creature and the creator, that is, in the first case, the author’s lyric voice addresses to a “you” and, invested of visiting persona, goes into “a certain house on Cosme Velho Street” e brings about Machado’s works and characters; in the second case, the poetic voice - from a vast inquiring – question itself about the creator’s existence, this “fabulist, fabulous, fable” that was João Guimarães Rosa. Both perspectives – that overlap each other in the memorial time to justify different poetic approaches – constitute a dialogue of a celebration and a tribute to two great writers who marked the mining poet, either in terms of memory of scripture (in the case of Machado de Assis), or in terms of literary memory of the writer (in the case of Guimarães Rosa).
