Abstract

On the slipping ground between the limits of knowledge and the freedom of the fictional narratives, this communication sets out three angles of observation which lead us to the idea that the literature causes strangeness while “sense of the real”, giving existence to what does not exist. For this, I resort to some suggested traces for the study of the art, proposed by anthropology. I emphasize these angles as a methodological resource to better visualize the problem in this issue, because they are like concentric circles surrounding this paradox. The first angle observes the conditions of the possibilities of the emergence of the novel as a new form of fiction, which constitutes the enquiring about the limits between real and fiction, ascertain that is parallel to the philosophy of knowledge. The second observes the developments of that demarcation, which takes the fiction as a starting point to help the understanding of the real and social and, the third, indicates certain modes of interaction of the reader with the narratives.
