Resumen

The analysis of the short stories “O Cobrador” and “Onze de
Maio” (O Cobrador, 1979), of Rubem Fonseca (1925 -), it demonstrates that the postmodernism became an intellectual movement questioner of the social differences. Fonseca's work approaches, with clarity, the disorder, the disaggregation, the absence of defined values, the social crisis and the physical and mental violence, found in the Brazilian cities. The incorporation
of the means of mass communication in the narrative is good to evidence the difference of the social strata, besides exercising influence in the suffered violence and caused by the characters.
