Abstract

This article aims to introduce the ontology of the Dutch philosopher Herman Dooyeweerd (1894-1977). Considering our introductory intent, we confine ourselves to the presentation of the most relevant conceptual elements of Dooyeweerd's ontology to allow the uninitiated reader a balanced access to his way of thinking. To this end, we will follow the following itinerary. In the first moment, we address the fundamental methodological presuppositions that guide Dooyeweerd's ontology. Then, in the second and third moments, we present the two fundamental categories of Dooyeweerd's ontology, namely: modal aspects and structures of individuality. In our presentation, we seek to elucidate the systematic and non-reductionist nature of Dooyeweerd's ontology.
