Abstract

The article presents part of the results of a research in development which has the objective to understand the variety of social representation of violence, security and frontier in the region of Grande Dourados, located in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul. It aims to understand, through the social representations of violence, the articulation of frontier characteristic problems in relation to the public policies designed and developed in this region. The research is being conducted in ten municipalities where interviews with different agents who work in this region take place. Despite the violence affecting the whole society, the research has proved that in the region of Grande Dourados there is a specificity marked by the relationship of difference/identity in their multiple connections with the social representations of violence
