Abstract

This paper turns to the mediator reading, bound to Lima Barreto literary work with the premise of analyzing mediation, dealing with theories that discuss the issue of reading mediator and their training. Thus, our goal is to highlight excerpts of literary production of the work Recordações do Escrivão Isaías Caminha (1998), in order to demonstrate through the character Isaiah, reading these mediators in the construction of the individual, as well as professional education can collaborate to improve the performance of the citizens. Furthermore, we present theoretical as Leal (2006), Lajolo Zilberman (1998), Fernandes (2011) among others, who question the practice of mediation and reading. From this reflection we realize that literature is a means of transformation in our society.
