Abstract

This article aims to analyze the possible presence of a lexicographic subject ideologically marked by religion in entries of two prestigious monolingual dictionaries of the Spanish language. Thus, the Diccionario de la Lengua Española (2014) and the Diccionario del Español de México (2010) were chosen as analysis material. Among the entries analyzed, the entry ángel was highlighted, which is part of the semantic field related to the religious memory shared by Mexican, Spanish, or Hispanics in general. The theoretical basis guiding the analysis focuses mainly in Lara (1996). As a result, it was found that lexicographical statements elaborated by subjects marked by Christianity, especially of Catholicism, diverge only by the intensity of the approaching or distancing of principles of the religion.
