Abstract

In an initial course Italian language learners feel a great need to decode everything they hear and read. Both possibilities they have for this is to ask the teacher or resort to a dictionary. In this case, the recommended type for this audience is the bidiredicional bilingual school dictionary. However, it is also possible that learners make contact with another type of lexicographical repertoire, the monolingual dictionary of the foreign language. In this sense, the purpose of this paper is to present a possibility of working with this material.
