Abstract

Literature and photography have always been fields which borrowed semantic and epistemological features from one another. At the time of its invention, the photography caused a stir among writers, who were divided between the enthusiasm with the newly born form of art on one the side, and the criticism of its alleged lack of authenticity on the other. Nonetheless, the dialogue established between these two fields allowed that today their proximities be expressed even in the metaphors used by artists on both sides when describing their creative process. Hence, this essay departs from the relationship between photography and literature, focusing on the short-story, to analyze how throughout images and words photographers and writers meet the double movement of revealing and hiding.
