Abstract

in this paper we are going to discuss some characteristics of children`s development in syntax during the acquisition process. Our main objective is to verify how this process takes place. That is why we ask how a child learns to talk, but the fact that generates surprise is that the children don’t talk. However, speech is involved in a deep sociocultural process related to the biopsychic development of children. Thus we have studied various literatures about children`s development in syntax. In order to develop the research, we have used information and data from a platform called Childes. Among that data we chose a subject we will call PA that has Portuguese as his/her mother language. We have observed that PA had great progress in a short period and that, besides the limitation of stimulus (fragmented linguistic input), it is visible his/her syntactic evolution. From the analyzes we could infer that language acquisition depends on strategies that children develop or use to comprehend, extract, oppose, group, reproduce, generalize and use in their discourse. Each child reuses, restructures and recreates things according to his/her individual characteristics and capacities.
