Abstract

In this paper we reflect about the diversity of the Spanish language and its implications for teaching. Our proposal is supported by studies of linguistic variation and change applied to teaching, by the National Parameters for Curriculum, by the Curriculum Guidelines for Elementary Education and by the Curriculum Guidelines for Secondary Education. We expect that our considerations propitiate moments of reflection to the Spanish teacher and that they trigger the inclusion of topics relating to linguistic variation in the planning of activities to the classroom.
