Abstract

The formation of the Paraná West dates back to the presence of European immigration in southern Brazil. In search of new lands and with  the goal to transplant their culture and way of live, groups migrated over the Brazil  planting in every corner very particular elements, especially in the language. This work aims to identify and analyze the components that act on the process of language change with respect to the use of the Italian language in a of Western Paraná  locality. The research is part of the research project "Study of languages in contact in western Paraná: the Italian language, the talian and the Portuguese", of Program stricto sensu graduate Masters and Doctorate in Letters / Unioeste. Through the communication networks analysis model, we intend to observe the linguistic uses three speakers female, three generations of a family of Italian descendants living in Matelândia in order to analyze the linguistic and extra-linguistic factors that acted in the language change process, observing the maintenance levels, rejection and disappearance of talian dialect.
