Este artigo aborda questões referentes ao ambiente fronteiriço da região Oeste do Paraná com Paraguai, e ao “brasiguaio". Iniciarei refletindo um pouco sobre a diversidade linguística fronteiriça e, na sequência, farei uma breve reflexão sobre a fronteira e os sujeitos que nela vivem, mais especificamente os “brasiguaios”, mostrando, portanto, que são esses sujeitos, os motivos que os levaram a imigrar para a região leste paraguaia e, ao mesmo tempo, o retorno de alguns deles para o Brasil e, por fim, faço as considerações finais. Esse estudo fundamenta-se em Caiado (1997), Sprandel (2000), Fiorentin (2010), Ferrari (2009) e Albuquerque (2005) para comentar sobre os “brasiguaios” que vivem no Paraguai e Pires-Santos (2004), Teis (2007) Dalinghaus (2009), Pinto e Tristoni (2010), Silva e Tristoni, (2013) para apresentar os “brasiguaios” que retornaram ao Brasil, apontando momentos que esses sujeitos são desrespeitados, estigmatizados e excluídos tanto dentro do contexto escolar como na comunidade onde vivem.
