Laerte and the "trans" expression through Muriel comic strips: for the right to be different

This study aims to analyze some of the comic strips of the cartoonist Laerte Coutinho, including the series entitled "Muriel", considering its educational relevance, since it reveals a new view on the gender identity issue. Faced with the fact that this cartoonist assumed her feminine gender identity, becoming military through transgender causes and receiving visibility in the media and in events pertinent to the theme. Her work is considered of relevance, since the strips do not detach themselves of her militancy for the cause. The research will be based on theorists who study queer theory, whose discussions are more related to the discourses of the cartoonist in question, such as Butler (2011) and Louro (2008). The comic strips were chosen randomly, prioritizing those that deal with the rights and the difficulty of adaptation within society, which is faced by most trans.Downloads
