This integrative review presents the results of a survey of Brazilian studies on whether there is evidence that language awareness influences the process of teaching-learning English as a foreign language. The search for articles, theses and dissertations was held at Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) Digital Journal and also at CAPES theses and dissertations platform. The descriptors adopted were "language awareness", "foreign language" and "foreign language teaching". The data of this study consists of six articles that reflect, to some extent, the role of language awareness as a facilitator and collaborator to the English language teaching-learning process as a foreign language.
