Abstract

This article attempts to show the French theorician’s Antoine Berman views first proposed in his 1981’s essay "The Manifestation of Translation", relating to the possibility/need of a ‘new’ reflection proposition about translation. According with that discussion, this paper seeks to raise questions, which could allow the development of the author’s reflection into new research possibilities.  The articulation of the bermanian views with that of others German authors from XIX century – especially Friedrich Schleiermacher – , sets a new field of contemporary theoretical reflection in the realm of Translation Studies, whose establishment lays both in the question of alterity and in the development of a conception of translation as relation.
