Between Hope and the Quest: Mother-Africa’s children
Keywords:
Mother-Africa, Agostinho Neto, “Adeus à hora da largada”, African Literature.Abstract
The Angolan poet Agostinho Neto calls his brothers, all of them sons of mother-Africa, for the fight. But he doesn't do it in a traditional way, under the political platform, rather, he summons them by the poetry, by the lyricism of the poem "Farewell to the start time". The mother's figure will be responsible for the scream telling the sorrows, shouting for the change. If at first, the poem passes the impression of resignation, in its second part the clamor is latent and the change is urgent. The present interpretation intends to approach the traditional and profitable relationship between literature and politics in the reality of Angola
