Eduardo Marciano, character of a Time to Meet, by Fernando Sabino, had a dream: to write a novel and publish it. To do it, he would have to go through a long way through out literature with its works by already famous writers to understand the rules and dinamics that compose the literary world. In this sense, this essay has the purpose to analyze the novel through the theoretical perspective of the French intelectual Pierre Bourdieu. The main point, to which we detained ourselves, was to analyze the path of the protagonist, that means, the training of a writer and his fight to enter the literary field, having the concepts of habitus, that were developed by the French academic, especially in his book The Rules of Art.
