This study aims to make bibliography about the aspects of the Ukrainian immigrationto Brazil, and verify, through Ukrainian descents’ reports, the reasons why immigrants have left
Ukraine, the conditions of their journey until their destination and the ways they were established in
Brazilian land. The relevance of this study is in the discussion and registration of the socio-historical
aspects concerning about the arrival of Ukrainian immigrants to our country, specifically to the
Center-South region of Paraná and to Itapará community, located in Irati. Our study is based on the
theoretical and methodological postulates of sociolinguistics, and having this in mind, after analyzing
what was used in this theory, we considered relevant to have a field research, in which we gathered
information through interviews with ten informants and also observation in loco.
