Abstract

The meaning of an image is circumscribed in the perception human being, in the experiences and expectations of each individual. Soon, depending on the way as it is interpreted, all and any image can assume diverse meanings. In this context, the choice of illustrations of an advertising requires special care: the image leads a message that can be efficient and suitable with the product, or the opposite, leading to the failure. Thus, the present article analyzes the image, used for the Dove brand, in an announcement of the campaign "Summer Without Shame". Beyond the denotative and connotative comment, the methodology suggested for Semprini (1995) is used for an semiotics analysis. Reflections regarding the proposal of this announcement are traced.
