The textual cohesion in children’s texts: comparative discussion about texts written by children of the third and the fifth academic years

This article is dedicated to discussing issues related to textual cohesion, from texts written in the second half of 2009 by children in third and fifth years of the escola estadual engenheiro Márcio Aguiar Cunha (located in Ipatinga - MG). Through the analysis of the corpus and based on Fávero’s (1991) theoretical assumptions - related to referential textual cohesion, recurring textual cohesion and sequential textual cohesion, we highlight the main cohesive mechanisms used by these students and analyze, in a comparative fashion, the efficiency and the problems that such uses present.
