Abstract

By using the memory that literature and cinema can offer, this paper aimed at providing a reflection about the professional identity of women in a historical period, in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. It was used some facts of life and pieces from Virginia Woolf’s and Sylvia Plath’s books. Following that theme, this paper focused on how the female identity is represented into literature and cinema. Finally, this paper shows a comparison between such identity and the post-modern representation of women’s role in society.
