Abstract

Starting from the mythical motif of eternal fight between the principle of Good and the principle of Evil, the present work propose a comparative analysis between the novel of 19th century The strange case of dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson, called in Portuguese for O médico e o monstro, and your musical adaptation to theater, of 20th century, Jekyll and Hyde, by Leslie Bricusse and Frank Wildborn. The center of analysis will be the figures of Henry Jekyll – the doctor – and mister Edward Hyde – the monster –, from the connection establiched between this characters.
