This paper, based on a literature review, aims at presenting a set of techniques and tools of knowledge management, supported by information technologies and communication, which can be used to improve the development of distance education projects. The topics presented here include knowledge management, definitions and processes, and distance education that address the design of systems, their characteristics and processes of project development.
