Abstract

This study will analyze the character Iago from the tragedy Othello by William Shakespeare. The study will concentrate in the search of an understanding of the motives that take the character Iago to unleash all the tragic facts. The aim is to try to understand better the evil attitudes of the character. We believe that a better comprehension of the motives that stimulated Iago can take us to a deeper understanding of this character that is so loved/hated by William Shakespeare’s readers. We will approach Iago’s trajectory, analyzing his speeches that reveal his motives.
