THE MEANING OF THE FLAG RAISING AND SING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS TODAY

This article intents to analyse the importance of the act to display the flag and to sing the nacional anthem in public schools in São Paulo state today. For analysis and comparison are possible, we will use the testimony for a History of Brazil professor, which has worked in public education for eight years and teaches at a school in Botucatu that performs the civic atic, and we will listen a secundary school student also from Botucatu, that accomplish this act too. Moreover, we will intent argue about the importance of this practice in the schools, what it means for the teachers and the students, if its meaning is discussed in school, if the student knows why the flag raising and the why the singing of the anthen and, finally, we know if he sees this as a symbol of Brazilian identity and nationalism.
