Abstract

This analysis about novel Shadows of bearded kings, discusses the unusual as the revelation of a style that deviates from the norm. It resorts to stylistic studies (GUIRAUD, 1970; MARTINS, 2000; MONTEIRO, 1991; POSSENTI, 1993; SPITZER, 1961), the verbal iconicity (SIMÕES, 2009) and unusual registered under the wonderful realism. The study reveals the novel’s stylistic trademarks that operate in the disintegration of a rule while the structuring of a new form of expression. These linguistic features introduce the unusual language in the heart of the work.
