Abstract

The relationship between literature and art, analised here under the perspective of the artistic proposal of the book and the importance of ilustration, tends to the composition of a third product (wich is literary and artistic). Ilustration leaves its explicative role and acquire an aesthetic function, wich is a fundamental part of the artistic proposal itself. We expose here two books with singular proposals (Memórias Inventadas, by Manoel de Barros and O Mundo do Menino Impossível, by Jorge de Lima), showing the importance of a consistent relation between text and image. About barros’s book, we’ve made a general analysis of the project, followed by the analysis of a poem and its ilustration. Lima’s work is composed by only one poem, wich allows us to do a more complete analysis. We defend the caution and attention with the original projects in case of republication and reedition.
