Abstract

ABSTRACT: The identitary transformations, under process, are evident around the world. According to this aspect, the present study aims, based on "Bintou’s Braids", an African-Brazilian children's literature, at reflecting on black ethno-racial issue in Brazil, taking into account this following question: does the African-Brazilian children's literature allow identitary background of the African descent reader/child in an affirmative perspective? Based on this question, it is important to understand the aspects of identity background and 'belonging', revealed in this work. These reflections are justified on the studies proposed by Hall (2003, 2006), Santos (2005), Lody (2004) among others, to show the impact of globalization on cultural identity by associating them to the literary work that was chosen for the study.
