Abstract

With this essay we entend to study the conceptual relationship beetween History and Culture, through critics and philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche, Walter Benjamin, Giorogio Agamben, Johan Huizinga and Terry Eagleton, to understand this matter in some João do Rio's cronics. What moves us is properly the relationship between past and present, the creation of a memory that explains e and saves the present as well as the past: the messianic force that all generations hold, said Walter Benjamin. Therefore, will there be in this texts, in their majority writen to newspapers of the time, this messianic element, that rescues from obscurity a forgoten past?
