Abstract: Diário da Queda is Porto Alegre born writer and journalist Michel Laub´s fifth novel. The work thematizes the memories of forty-year-old Jew, tormented by the memory of an action practiced in his early teenhood, when he causes the fall of a colleague. The novel, divided into five sections, follows the life of three generations, upon whose story the narrative is structured. Through the parallel between the memories of the grandfather, an Auschwitz survivor, and his descendants, tormented by the remembrance of everyday life mischievous acts, practiced against helpless marginalized beings, the book summons the reader as a witness of striking stories, traumatic narratives that feed individual and social memory, and that deserve to be remembered as a warning, so that facts such as these shall not be repeated.
