Abstract

This review aims to critically analyze the film School of Rock, which depicts the story of a "fake" teacher and his relationship with his students in a school of Basic Education. The main character in this plot accepted an invitation to teach (even without pedagogical training), and ends up developing an interdisciplinary emphasis on working with music in school. The methodological construction of this study was, at first, the literature on the issues involved and, second, a discussion of a collective sessions of Cinema University, inserted in Extension Project of Continuing Education Graduates and Graduates of the Department of computing, University Campus Vale of Teles Pires in Colider/MT, the University of the State of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT). The results indicate that, for educators, the movie School of Rock serves as support for the discussion of the theme music and interdisciplinarity, as the film allows thinking about education beyond the confines of the school walls. So, finally, we can consider that musical activity developed by "false teacher" was supported by pedagogical concepts consistently. Also highlighted the importance of planning with a view to developing interdisciplinary practices in the pursuit of quality of activities in the educational space.
